Overview
Training will focus on tools to support the surveyor in managing modern Hydrographic Data and bridging the gap between processed Bathymetry and the products that use this data.
Day 1-3: Bathymetric Data Management and preparation
Using CARIS Base Editor, this three day module will provide users with the ability to prepare your survey data for further charting purposes preparation. A continuous workflow after the CARIS HIPS and SIPS Professional will enable you to create products for further High resolution electronic S-57 datasets, ENC's, AML's, MIO's and chart products.
This course will include:
Day 4-5: Efficient S-57 production with the NEW S-57 Composer
A basic understanding of the S-57 standard is invaluable for anyone working in Hydrography. This one-day module provides you with an insight in S-57 Composer, CARIS Notebook and the S-57 standard, which is increasingly becoming a standard in all areas of hydrographic endeavours. Designed to replace or supplement the traditional field book, Notebook is a lightweight, easy-to-use application allowing the hydrographic surveyor to take all of the available historical data into the field, including pre-existing survey surfaces, vector information (e.g. DXF, DGN, S-57, SHAPE, etc.) and georeferenced images. With this information and a GPS interface, the surveyor can digitally record survey observations and validate in the field by comparing charted positions to newly acquired information. Complementary to Notebook is S-57 Composer for further complete S-57 production. Fast and efficiently products can be created for daily use.
Prerequisites
No previous experience with Notebook or Bathy DataBASE is necessary however some experience in hydrographic is desirable to obtain the best value from this week.
