S-57, Notebook and Bathy DataBASE Training
May 12-16, 2008
Innovation House, Mawson Lakes, Adelaide, Australia
Deadline to register is Monday, April 21, 2008
Overview
Training will focus on tools to support the surveyor in managing modern Hydrographic Data and bridging the gap between processed Bathymetry and the products that use this data.
Day One: S-57 Standard and Digital S-57 Based Field Mapping
A basic understanding of the S-57 standard is invaluable for anyone working in Hydrography. This one-day module provides surveyors with an insight in CARIS Notebook and the S-57 standard, which is increasingly becoming more common in all areas of hydrographic endeavours. Designed to replace or supplement the traditional fieldbook, Notebook is a lightweight, easy-to-use application allows the hydrographic surveyor to take all of the available historical data into the field, including pre-existing survey surfaces, vector information (e.g. DXF, DGN, S-57, SHAPE, etc.) and georeferenced images. With this information and a GPS interface, the surveyor can digitally record survey observations and validate in the field by comparing charted positions to newly acquired information.
Day 2-5: Bathymetric Data Management for the Future
Using CARIS Bathy DataBASE, this four-day module will provide users with the ability to manage large hydrographic databases, based on the concept of managing fully attributed high-resolution survey surfaces rather than the 'raw' source bathymetric datasets.
This course will include:
Prerequisites
No previous experience with Notebook or Bathy DataBASE is necessary however some experience with managing hydrographic data is desirable to obtain the best value from this week.
