Remarks:

In the case of cables carrying high voltages, the quoted vertical clearance (VERCLR) may have to be reduced by 2-5m to avoid electrical discharge. When known, this authorized safe clearance (known in the UK as the Safe Overhead Clearance) which is the physical clearance minus a safety margin shall, be stated. (IHO Chart Specifications, S-4).
