Data Import

Import selected features from vector backdrop files or grab geometries as needed.
Vectorise lines or areas from raster backdrops.
Use custom-built scripts to import features from formatted text files or from a database using Open Database Connectivity (ODBC).

Data Integration

Facilitates data integration with existing digital field survey data, as well as with other CARIS software products. Load CARIS Standalone HOB files - which can be produced from data in many CARIS software products, e.g. CARIS HIPS, HPD, BASE Editor, Notebook, HOM , HOM AML and DOM.

Data Filtering

Organise and manage data by creating layers or selections based on filters for features, attributes, geometries or FOIDS. A filter wizard is available for more complex combinations.

Session Files

Save Session files of the current product data including zoomed views, display settings and backdrop files for future work.

Product Creation

Use the Create Product Wizard to define the parameters of your product. Choose from a menu of all available S-57 products (ENC, IENC, AML) to start. Customised products can be easily added by the user and CARIS will release updates containing new products specifications as they are released (Marine Information Overlays, Digital Survey Sheets etc).

Data Creation and Editing

Add new point, line and area features easily with tools for multiple feature creation and attribute definition.
Utilise advanced feature creation and editing tools for creating complex area or line features and for modifying existing data.
Easily create Sounding Groups, Collection Objects, Master-Slaves and DEPARE lines with automated tools.
Use the Clip and Copy tool with a template polygon to "cookie cut" data.
Full support for S-57 Lexical Level 2 national language attributes.

Feature Templates

Create feature templates to define an object class, attributes, and spatial type.
Then re-use the feature templates for efficiency in digitising.

Display Options

View the data using the S-52 electronic chart presentation standards.
Use a wide range of filter options available to control the display of features.
Apply transparency levels while editing, updating or validating data.

New Edition Updates

Reopen a product if further editing is required and re-export the S-57 edition, or create new editions of an S-57 product after changes have been applied.

Export Packaging

S-57 Composer automatically exports to a new Exchange Set or updates an existing set. This packages the S-57 data sets and creates or updates the catalogue file.

Validation

Run S-57 validation checks to report geometries and attributes that do not comply with the pertinent S-57 Product Specifications. Test against the IHO S-58 specification and user customisable tests.
Utilise advanced editing tools to repair these features prior to product creation.
