Notebook is creating efficiencies in hydrographic surveys that have never before been possible. A digital alternative to the paper field book, Notebook enables collection of geo-referenced field notes and S-57 standards-based hydrographic objects either by hand or with the use of a GPS receiver. It fills a workflow gap between post-processing of hydrographic survey data and output to hydrographic products such as S-57 ENCs. Its tools can be used for quality assurance and in-field validation. New hydrographic object data can easily be compared to chart or ENC results from previous surveys.
