
Support for hyperlinks has been added to the attribute worksheet. When an attribute is defined as a hyperlink the associated application is used to show the item on the screen.
Each view could have a different Layer and Group configuration based on the data sources in that project. Now new views can be created based on any existing View making new view configuration much easier.
New dynamic Geographic grids, Projected grids and Scale bars have replaced the old projected grids. These new functions are completely customizable from the options and have the added benefit that they are not added to your data so they can be changed at any time.
Alpha level Transparency for selections, layers, and images. This feature makes draw order less of a priority because now you can see through features that blanket large portions of any map.
To quickly allow the addition of backdrop images a new Two-Point Image Registration tool has been added. Control Point Picker is still available for anyone who needs a more rigorous registration process.
A new utility has been created to allow the creation and editing of symbols stored in the symbol file. This new utility is called Symbol Editor. It is available from the Carta start menu and allows for many of the basic digitizing functions available in Carta to create symbols.
Tablet digitizing has been added. The tablet can be used to digitize from paper maps.
The new Raster Line Follow command can be used to digitize from an image on the screen.
Move/paste data from one layer to another layer. Any data of the same type can be cut or copied from one layer to another. This feature allows for quick data definition. Data can be imported from other sources and then easily cut to its proper layer which could be predefined with the proper attributes.
Two paste functions are available. "Paste", will paste at the same location and "Paste to here... " will allow the interactive position of the pasted data.
To change the position of multiple features, sometimes a simple move is not enough. For this reason the Multiple Point GeometricTransformation function has been added. Using this function, many control points can be identified and the data manipulated to fit into its proper location.
