Interactive 3D project window allows dynamically flying through the data. This tool includes flight and movie recording.
Data Validation
Use the 3D Display Window and the Subset Editor to view bathymetric surfaces in three dimensions to identify problem areas.
Display Properties
Adjust the display settings for data according to your analysis and visualization needs. Display options include settings for colour, image, digit and legend.
Interpolation
A Triangulated Irregular Network (TIN) is created from a Sounding Set as a series of triangles connecting all points. A gridded BASE Surface can be interpolated from a TIN model.
Profile Tool
View a slice of a BASE Surface in 3 dimensions.
Subset Editing
The Subset Editor is an area based editing tool. Use the Subset Editor to view bathymetric surfaces in three dimensions to identify and investigate problem areas.
Surface Functions
Prepare and manipulate BASE Surfaces with functions such as Shift, Combine, Difference, and Extract.
Surface Generalization
Create a shoal-based Product Surface with generalization and defocusing tools. The Product Surface can be used for the generation of smooth contours and selected soundings at a scale appropriate to the product requirements.
The following file format are supported as backdrops:
AutoCAD files (DWG and DXF)
BSB raster images (CAP and KAP)
CARIS files (DES)
CARIS Spatial Agent Files (SAF)
CRL Images (CRL)
CSAR Point Cloud
DGN Files (DGN)
GeoTIFF Images (TIF)
HCRF Images (CHR)
Hydrographic Object Binary files (HOB)
IGA Images (IGA)
Jpeg 2000 Image (JP2)
Mr.Sid - MrSid Images (*sid)
S-57 files (000)
Shape files (SHP)
TFW Images (TFW)
VPF database (DHT)
Data Accessible Online
Source and background data can also be accessed online via URL.
Directly view and analyze Kongsberg Seafloor Information System (SIS) grids, providing users with increased connectivity to the Kongsberg real-time operator software for near real-time analysis of the SIS grids.
Open files through a Web Mapping Services and Web Feature Services for realtime access to features and images.
CARIS Batch command line tool
Run a number of critical functions through the command line to streamline tedious and time consuming workflows. The new CARIS Batch tool provides access to the Warp, Vertical Shift, Interpolation, Finalize, Export to ASCII and other key functions.
Meta-data
Meta-data for datasets, points and grid nodes are supported throughout the Bathy DataBASE workflow.
Session Files
Session file contain list of layers to be opened and viewed. Frequently opened BASE Surfaces, raster images and other vector map data can be saved in a Session file for convenient access.
Third Party Data
A number of formats for point clouds and gridded surfaces are supported natively and through the third party import process.
Natively open and work with BAG, USGS DEM, ESRI ASCII grid, GeoTIFF, and others.
Generate regular or customized contours at multiple chart scales from BASE Surfaces or TIN models. Generate Depth Area objects at the time of contouring or later in the process.
Export to Products
Bathy DataBASE supports export functions to a number of convenient and widely used formats.
Export gridded surfaces and point clouds to ASCII, BAG, USGS DEM, and other formats for data exchange.
Export features to DXF, 000, Shape file, ASCII, GML and other formats for easy integration into the production pipeline.
Export the current content of the view into popular formats such as PDF, GeoTIFF, TIFF and KMZ. The PDFs may be optionally georeferenced and layered preserving a great deal of information about the source data in a file format that is accessible to a very wide audience.
Publishing Tools
Use plot composer application to generate publications.
Sounding Selection
Generate soundings at multiple chart scales from BASE Surfaces. Map BASE Surface attributes to S-57 attributes with a translation file.
The BAG (Bathymetry Attributed Grid) is a non-proprietary file format for storing and exchanging bathymetric data developed by the Open Navigation Working Group.
BASE Surface
The BASE (Bathymetric with Associated Statistical Error) Surface is gridded data stored in the CSAR format. Additional attributes such as Depth and Uncertainty are stored at each node.
Sounding Set
A Sounding Set is un-gridded data (points) in the CSAR format. Additional attributes can be stored at each point.
