At CARIS we recognize that our customers are concerned about the information we collect on our web site
and the manner in which it is used. We value the privacy of those who visit our Web site and think it is
important for you to understand when and why we collect this information, and how we may use it. This
Privacy Statement details how and why CARIS collects customer information. Please read the entire Privacy
Statement before providing any personally identifiable information to us.
Why does CARIS collect customer information?
CARIS collects personal information such as your name, address, telephone number, or email address only
if you choose to provide this information to us voluntarily. This information is used to insure appropriate
legal use of licensed CARIS software, to help provide technical and product support to our clients, and
to provide notification to licensees about updates to CARIS software.
CARIS may also use your name, address, and email address to send you marketing materials, CARIS
Conference information, and newsletters, unless you notify us that you do not want to receive these
materials.
What does CARIS do with the information we collect?
Certain information, such as your name, may be stored through the use of "cookies" for the purpose of
user convenience when accessing CARIS information and services. A cookie is a small text file stored
on your computer's hard drive that can tell us when you downloaded a file. In some cases information
from the cookies will automatically fill in previously completed forms to save you time. CARIS does not
use cookies to store information such as credit card numbers or other sensitive information. Clients
should note that a cookie is stored on their computers when logging on to the Online Customer Services
site. This cookie stores only information required to remember your personal settings but is necessary
to access information and download updates.
CARIS may also collect personal information when you order and register software; enter contests;
download technical literature; register for training, workshops or conferences; and contact us with
questions that require a direct response to you.
Can I be removed from the list?
CARIS will contact you or send you marketing information about software or services unless you notify
CARIS that you do not wish to receive it. You may notify us by sending an email to
info@caris.com. As a result of being removed from the mailing lists you may not receive information
on the CARIS Conference or other valuable correspondence.
If you no longer wish to receive email or postal notifications about software, services, or special
promotions, please let us know by sending email to us at info@caris.com
and specify that you do not want to receive these notifications. Please provide us with your exact name
and address as well as a description of the publication or mail piece you received. We will use reasonable
efforts to refrain from including you when sending marketing materials to CARIS clients by noting your
election in our database.
Can I access or update my personal information?
CARIS will permit you to access information about you in our database by contacting
info@caris.com. If you believe any of the information is incorrect or needs updating, please advise us.
We will correct our records upon verification of the requested change.
What about security?
CARIS will take reasonable and prudent precautions to protect against the loss, misuse or alteration of
information that we have collected from you at our site. CARIS' corporate policy is not to rent, sell,
or otherwise permit access by third parties to your personal information.
Who do I contact if I feel this policy has not been followed?
If you believe for any reason that CARIS has not followed these principles, please contact us at
info@caris.com and identifying issue as a Privacy Policy concern in the
subject line. We will act promptly to investigate, correct as appropriate, and advise you of the correction.
