Fredericton, NB, Canada – February 25, 2014 – Congratulations to Jennifer Campo and the LARsen Ice Shelf System Antarctica (LARISSA) program at the University of Houston for submitting the winning image for the 2014 CARIS calendar contest. The LARISSA program is sponsored by the National Science Foundation.
The image of the Eastern Antarctic Peninsula highlighting glacially sculpted features of the Antarctica Sound, Erebus and Terror Gulf, and Prince Gustav Channel that is progressively covered by the Vega Drift Deposit was created from data made available from various U.S. Antarctic program cruises. The data was later processed utilizing CARIS HIPS and SIPS. The data processing team included Jennifer Campo, Julia Wellner, Alicia Staszyc, Helena Manuel, and Yuribia Munoz.
Thank you to everyone that participated in the 2014 CARIS calendar contest. It was the first time the contest was opened up for public voting and the response surpassed all expectations.
CARIS Calendar Desktop images are now available for download. Don’t forget to download this month’s calendar image.
