Advanced HIPS and SIPS open training in Australia

Participants of the advanced HIPS and SIPS training course in Cairns, Australia.CARIS recently held an advanced HIPS and SIPS training course in Cairns, Australia. The course was held at the Rydges Plaza Hotel and was coordinated and delivered by Daniel Kruimel and Christian Fellinger of CARIS Asia Pacific.

The course attracted attendees from defence, government organizations and private survey companies. Topics covered included a comprehensive overview of the CUBE algorithm, water column imaging, backscatter processing using GeoCoder and tidal zoning. As part of the course, trainees used their new knowledge of CUBE to develop a custom set of parameters to be applied to a multibeam swath survey.

"The advanced HIPS and SIPS course was an enlightening insight into the CUBE algorithm and back scatter processing," commented Owen Cantrill, Manager Hydrographic Services at Maritime Safety Queensland, who participated in the training course.

Attendees braved 30 C temperatures and humidity levels of over 80 per cent during the course. The training also provided a forum for users to discuss their workflows and processing techniques with CARIS staff and other advanced users from various organizations.
