In June 2012, CARIS will be holding our 14th international user group conference in the city of Vancouver in British Colombia, Canada.

In June 1792, Captain George Vancouver, hydrographer and naval officer, surveyed what would become the harbour of this great city. His four-year voyage of exploration aboard HMS Discovery was the longest mapping expedition in history, and his surveys were of such detail and accuracy that his charts were still being used for navigation more than a century later.
