A Training Camp is a great way to get a concentrated dose of information and experience with CARIS software in a relatively short period of time.
These two-day learning opportunities will be hosted on March 22-23, 2010.
During the event, you will have dedicated access to a computer workstation while CARIS product specialists lead you through the latest enhancements, technology tips and tricks and industry best practices.
At the end of your Training Camp, you will have a clear path towards increased personal and organizational productivity and effectiveness in your use of CARIS software.
Full CARIS 2010 Registrants may select one of the three available Training Camps:
Training Camp 1
Hydrographic Data Processing with HIPS and SIPS
Experience the most trusted application in the industry for hydrographic data processing. Participants will explore the features of HIPS and SIPS for processing of multibeam echosounder bathymetry and backscatter, sidescan sonar and bathymetric LiDAR.
This Training Camp will be of specific interest to those who want to learn the latest data processing techniques in the industry. Application areas such as marine geology, utilities, oceanography, chart production and port management can all benefit from learning this software product. Topics will include Total Propagated Uncertainty, CUBE, 3D editing and visualization, Geocoder and sediment analysis and plot and poster creation using the Plot Composer engine.
HIPS and SIPS is a CARIS Ping-to-Chart Solution. As such, special attention will be given to the progression data from HIPS and SIPS through production workflows to Notebook, BASE Editor and S-57 Composer.
Training Camp 2
Electronic Chart Production with S-57 Composer
Experience an all-in-one desktop application for electronic chart production. Participants will explore the features of S-57 Composer for creation of ENCs as well as specialized products such as Marine Information Overlays, Additional Military Layers, Inland ENCs, DNCs®and Bathymetric ENCs. You will also learn how customize existing catalogues or create new ones for unlimited potential.
This Training Camp will be of specific interest to those in the marine community producing electronic chart products. Application areas such as, inland and port navigation, ENC and DNC® production tactical charting and environmental mapping can all benefit from the latest electronic chart production techniques using this single, highly customizable software product.
This Training Camp will also be of interest to Hydrographic agencies seeking to utilize the latest desktop chart production tools as a stepping stone to database-driven chart production as S-57 Composer shares the same robust object creation and editing tools that exist in CARIS HPD.
S-57 Composer is a CARIS Ping-to-Chart Solution. As such, special attention will be given to the progression of data in production workflows from Notebook and BASE Editor to S-57 Composer.
Training Camp 3
Web Enabling Hydrographic Datasets with Spatial Fusion Enterprise
Extend the Ping-to-Chart workflow to include web-based distribution of your hydrographic datasets. CARIS Spatial Fusion Enterprise is a standards driven, open architecture web-mapping engine providing the option to serve your data via Open Geospatial Consortium, Inc.® (OGC) WMS/WFS standards for viewing in third party map clients, or via the CARIS Spatial Fusion Enterprise Viewer. Spatial Fusion Enterprise as been recently engineered to enhance support of hydrographic data, including the ability to draw bathymetry directly from Bathy DataBASE.
This Training Camp will provide an overview of the set-up, administration and maintenance of a web mapping application based on Spatial Fusion Enterprise. Set up will include data preparation, including map tiling and caching, and web services deployment. Set-up of the Spatial Fusion Enterprise Map Viewer will also be covered. Specific attention will be spent on the preparation of hydrographic datasets for web publishing and strategies for dealing with large, dense datasets such as ENCs and bathymetry.
This Training Camp will be of interest to hydrographic agencies seeking to provide access to their data either externally via the Internet, or internally via an intranet. This includes those who wish to publish their data via OGC standards such as WMS, WFS, GML or KML.
Spatial Fusion Enterprise is a CARIS Ping-to-Chart Solutions. Special attention will be given to progression of data from HPD and Bathy DataBASE into the web-based distribution stage.
