In 1979, Dr. Masry, a professor at the University of New Brunswick, was approached to advise on the design of a digital mapping software application. CARIS was born.

For more than 30 years, CARIS has designed and built software solutions to meet the geospatial requirements of a broad base of clients operating in the marine, land and aviation sectors.

CARIS has continued to stay true to its roots. It remains a family owned business based out of Fredericton, New Brunswick. The 50,000 square feet headquarters employs 140 professionals in an open concept, campus style setting located within one mile of Fredericton's vibrant centre and adjacent to Odell Park.

CARIS also has offices in The Netherlands, United States, Australia and the United Kingdom, and also supports a network of more than 20 authorized CARIS representatives, providing expertise and first-line support in over 90 countries.
